The Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union, has thrown its weight behind Labour Party chieftain, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, pledging prayers and grassroots support for his bid to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.
The endorsement was made during the union’s 2026 August Meeting held at Alayi Central School, which drew a large turnout of women from across Alayi and several political dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anyaso said he chose to attend personally out of respect for the community, despite having visited Alayi earlier in the week.
“I was here on Sunday, and when I was invited again for this August Meeting, I considered sending a representative. But because of the respect I have for Alayi people, I decided to come myself,” he said.
The Labour Party candidate blamed what he called the proliferation of substandard federal projects in Bende on poor representation, and commended Abia State Governor, *Dr. Alex Otti*, for his leadership.
“The only reason we have substandard projects in Bende is failure of representation. If you see what Governor Alex Otti is doing, you will know he is a first-class brain, unlike those constructing roads that break down after two months,” Anyaso stated.
He further disclosed that many of the interventions he has carried out across Bende were personally funded, and promised quality and transparent projects if elected.
“I want to assure the people of Alayi, all I have been doing in Bende is from my pocket. But by the grace of God, come 2027, God will send us to Abuja,” he said.
“While they award contracts to companies they registered for kickbacks, under our watch Bende will begin to see Julius Berger handling projects,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the women, the President-General of the Women’s Wing, *Mrs. Jane Okorie*, offered prayers for Dr. Anyaso and assured him of the women’s backing.
“For taking care of Alayi women, that which is your heart’s desire will be granted come 2027,” she prayed.
The meeting provided a platform for interaction, prayers and discussions on community development and effective representation.
