Army chief urges students to take their studies serious

The Brigade Commander, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Barracks, 14Brigade Headquarters Ohafia, Abia State, Brigadier  General Abdul Kalifa Ibrahim has charged students to take their studies seriously if they must become successful in life.

Ibrahim represented by the Chief of Staff of the Brigade, Col. E.U Effiong stated this while addressing pupils of Kingdom Heritage Model School, Amaekpu Ohafia who were on excursion at the command to have firsthand information on the activities of the command headquarters.

 

Ibrahim who also called on the students to be disciplined, law-abiding and respect for constituted authorities in the state and the country at large, stating that if the pupils wants to succeed in whatever that they do in life, they must learn to discipline themselves, respect their parents, teachers and colleagues.

According to Ibrahim, such visit by the pupils helps promotes military-civil relationship of the command with its host community and the state at large and stressed that they also used such visit to correct some of the negative perception of the people about the military.

 

The Brigade Commander who used the opportunity of the visit to brief the pupils and teachers of the school on the activities of the command and reinstated the commitment of the command to ensure Ohafia local government and other parts of the state were safe and conducive for economic and business activities thrives as their duties in the state is to protect lives and properties of citizens and visitors.

The leader of the visiting pupils who doubles as the school’s head teacher had earlier in her speech told the host that the visit to the military command headquarters was to have practical knowledge of the activities of the Nigerian Army.

 

She said that she was overwhelmed by the Command’s approval for the visit and the reception accorded to them, stressing that the school would sustain the relationship between the school and the military.

The pupils were later conducted round the barracks including the Quarter Guards where the Regimented Sergeant Major (RSM) led the pupils to inspect the guards.

 

The children also visited the command’s Supply and Transport, medical center, Training Shed and the Brigade’s parade ground.
