Dr. Chimaobi Anyaso of the Labour Party, known as OFUJI, has formally launched his campaign for the Bende Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Speaking to Ndi Bende on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Dr. Anyaso described the flag-off as the start of a movement centered on unity, service and accountable governance, not personal ambition.
“This journey is bigger than Chima Anyaso. It is bigger than one political party. It is bigger than one election. This journey is about Bende. It is about our children and the future we will leave for them,” he said.
He said his aspiration is rooted in confidence in Bende’s people and communities. His leadership philosophy, he noted, rests on service, responsibility, compassion and accountability.
“Leadership is not a title. Leadership is service. It is responsibility. It is compassion. It is the willingness to use whatever God has placed in your hands to improve the lives of others,” he stated.
Dr. Anyaso pledged to run a representation that is accessible and responsive, and to ensure public resources translate into real benefits. He identified key focus areas as youth development, agriculture, education, enterprise, healthcare, community development and empowerment.
He set the tone for an issue-driven and peaceful campaign, and rejected politics of division.
“We will not turn brothers against brothers because of politics. Election will come and go. Political positions will come and go, but Bende will remain,” he said.
He urged supporters to campaign with confidence, humility and respect for opponents, elders and stakeholders, and to present the movement’s record and vision for voters to judge.
The candidate highlighted previous interventions in education, healthcare, youth development, humanitarian assistance and community support as evidence that his service did not start with politics.
“I have never believed that a person must first occupy political office before serving his people,” he said.
Dr. Anyaso asked Ndi Bende for the mandate to take that commitment to the National Assembly, where he promised to attract opportunities, support communities and create pathways for young people. He said while no leader can promise perfection, he will remain accessible, accountable and protective of the trust placed in him.
“I will work, I will listen, I will be accessible, I will be accountable, I will protect the trust you place in me, and by the special grace of Almighty God, I will not disappoint Ndi Bende.”
He announced plans to take the campaign from community to community, ward to ward and family to family, to listen and share the OFUJI vision. He also charged young people to see themselves as entrepreneurs, innovators and future leaders, and sought the prayers and guidance of traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and elders.
Declaring the campaign open, he said: “Today, the journey begins. We begin with no hatred in our hearts. We begin with faith. We begin with hope. We begin with courage. We begin with love for our people. And above all, we begin with the people.”
“Ndi Bende, I am ready. The OFUJI Movement is ready. And I believe Bende is ready,” he concluded.
