The governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has said that Aba, the commercial nerve of the state remained strategic to the survival of ndigbo.
This is even as he disclosed that part of the reason his administration was focusing on road construction in Aba was to connect major markets in the city with one another.
Dr. Ikpeazu who was speaking in an interaction with journalists at the Aba Governor’s Lodge said that the priority of his administration was not just to create an enabling environment, but to ensure ease of doing business in the economic concentrated city.
The governor who stated that the deliberate effort of his administration to connect the major markets in Aba with roads have started yielding positive fruits as traders and shoppers can now move their goods from one market or business point to another without stress.
“Now, traders of Ahia Ohuru, Shopping Center and Ariaria can meet the demands of their customers within the shortest time, unlike what it was in the past.
“People who are patronizing the traders, after buying what they want to buy, can move their goods from one location or market to another with ease.
“The use of cement pavement technology is our deliberate effort in ensuring that the next governor of the state channels his energy in attending to other areas that needs his attention and to also build a long lasting road for the people of the state and other road users.”
He further disclosed that, as part of the government’s effort to improve on the infrastructural development of the state, the city of Aba and Umuahia, the state capital would be having a master plan which would serve as a template for successive administrations.
The governor who said that his target was to place Abia in the map of economic development, charged the media to be professional and objective in their reportage, stating that he was prepared to be judged by the things he has done.
This is even as he solicited for the media professional’s support in projecting the state positively through their reports.
