Police Reportedly Arrest Hon. Uwak, Former House of Reps Member

A detachment of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit has reportedly arrested a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Robinson Uwak.

Uwak was said to have been arrested by the IGP team for allegedly defaming the character of the member representing Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State and the Spokesman of the House of Reps; Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

The former House of Reps member was reportedly arrested following his refusal to honour series of invitation extended to him by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.

His arrest was was to have been effected by bthe IGP team through a court warrant.

Hon. Kalu, according to sources was said to have demanded for an apology from Uwak who accused him (Kalu) of infidelity with his (Uwak’s) wife.

Hon. Kalu, the source stated, had threatened to approach the court upon failure of Uwak to tender apologies.

While Hon. Kalu now have the court to prove his innocence of the allegations against him, Uwak will be required to prove the allegations against Kalu or face the legal consequencies of his actions.

Efforts were still being made at the time of the report to reach Hon. Uwak or his associates.

Recall that Uwak had while reacting to a letter dated 17th of July demanding him to tender an apology and retract defamatory remarks he made against Kalu, said that his allegations are not garnished fables of falsehoods or verisimilitudes of reality.

“They are truthful claims of a man who is desperate to save his life and marriage. My attention has been brought to a letter dated the 17th of July 2022, in which Benjamin Kalu through his lawyers demanded, amongst other things, that I retract alleged defamatory remarks which accused him of having an amorous relationship with my wife, Mrs Keiza Robinson Uwak. That he is taking steps to destroy my marriage and using security agents to harass me. That he conspired with my wife, who has had two children for me, to poison me.

“I maintain that these statements against Benjamin Kalu are not garnished fables of falsehoods or verisimilitudes of reality. They are truthful claims of a man who is desperate to save his life and marriage.

“His continuous amorous relationship with my wife has cost me great pain and emotional distress. Using the instrumentality of privilege and proximity to power, he has used the instrumentality of influence to frustrate and bully me out of marital bliss.”
