ASOPADEC commissioner buries wife 4 months after she died in accident with two children

A commissioner in the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) and indigene of Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, Honourable Adiele Ekeke has buried his wife, Mrs. Obum who died in auto-crash.

The Nation had reported four months ago that Hon. Adiele had in August lost three members of his family; Master Okezie Marvelous (2 years old), Miss Chimnomnso Sophia (7 years old) and his wife, Mrs. Obum Jessica (39 Years Old) in a fatal auto accident along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, near Okigwe.

The burial which attracted the presence of Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, Former Senate President; Adolphus Wabara, Member Representing Ugwunagbo/Ukwa East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Uzoma Abonta, former Abia State Deputy Governor, Eric Acho Nwakanma, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere; founder of Omega Power Ministry (OPM) and among other dignitaries took place at Ikwu-Orie Comprehensive Secondary School, Ohanku Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area of the State.

In his homily, the officiating minister and the President Nigeria Union Conference: SeventhDay Adventist Church, Pastor Bassey E.O Udoh who took his texts from Revelation 14:13, 1st Corinthians 15:17, James 4:13-14 , Psalms 90:12 admonished friends and well-wishers of the deceased not to weep for their dead, but for themselves, stressing that it doesn’t matter how long one lived on earth, but how well it was lived.

Recalling how he dedicated late Master Okezie in Ohanku Ndoki two years ago and after wedding the couple in Calabar, Cross River State on November 30th 2011 described late Obum as a devout Christian.

“She has fought a fight. She has finished the race and is awaiting the crown of victory.

“It is a good thing to sleep in God and that is what Obum has just done. I was the person that wedded Obum and her husband in Calabar. I was the person that equally dedicated their only son two years ago in this same village.

“I am sure that God is going to use the one that survived for a great miracle. I want to urge the husband not to allow the devil to move him (Hon. Adiele) away from God.”

Also speaking, the Governor of the State; Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu represented by his deputy, Dr. Udo Oko Chukwu asked the family not to cry like people that don’t have hope.

Oko Chukwu who noted that nothing happens without the knowledge of God, urged the bereaved and those affected by the death of late Obum and her children not to lose their faith in God.

Hon. Adiele (who could not hold back his emotion throughout the burial ceremony) in a tribute described the late wife as an inestimable jewel and one who would break mountains to bring joy to the family.

Other members of the family, Kenneth Nwachi, Onyekwere Ekeke said that late Obum took every member of the family like hers.

They wondered if they could ever have a woman in the compound that behaves like late Obum and prayed that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss of their deceased.
