Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has given three months’ notice to illegal occupants and inhabitants of a government facility in Aba, the commercial nerve of the state, three months to vacate from the area.

This is even as he has directed people whose property encroached into government lands to remove them with immediate effect.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu gave the directives on Tuesday when he visited the State Broadcasting Corporation’s sub-station at Okpu Umuobo, Osisioma LGA of the state.

Governor Ikpeazu who was visibly displeased with the level of encroachment on the premises described as unacceptable a situation where people willfully acquire and convert government property to their personal use without considering the consequences of such actions.

According to the governor, anyone who does not vacate the encroached property within the stipulated period of three months would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

In an interview, the State Commissioner of Information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu stated that the purpose of the governor’s visit was to dislodge illegal squatters from the premises of the state-owned broadcasting facility preparatory to installing a remote broadcast station.

Okiyi who stated that the facility which would be equipped with modern digital broadcasting equipment will help to enhance the reception of the station in Aba and its environs and as well serve as an alternative broadcasting station to the Umuahia main outlet.

The Governor was accompanied on the visit by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the DG of BCA, Anyaso Anyaso, and other top government functionaries.
