“Abia State Today marks another eventful year since our dear state, Abia, was excised from the old Imo state by the military government of Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB).

“On this auspicious occasion, I congratulate the government and good people of Abia state on this 31st anniversary of the creation of our dear state, today, the 27th of August, 2022.

“I am thankful to the Almighty God for the peaceful coexistence amongst all Abians despite the perceptible political, religious, traditional, and cultural differences.

“This occasion provides me the opportunity to further appreciate Ndi Abia for their resilient spirit amid all the challenges and, most importantly, their contributions to the development of the state.

“I will not also forget to pay tribute to the founding fathers of the state for their inestimable sacrifices and visions.

“As a state, our journey so far, to me, has been one of mixed feelings. We have recorded some successes and failures, but in all, we are not where we are supposed to be.

“The current conditions and reality of Abia are a far departure from what the founding fathers had envisioned for the state. We are lagging in so many areas.

“The cross-sectorial scorecard of our dear state, as it stands, therefore, does not represent the visions of the founding fathers, and we must not allow their sacrifices to go to in vain.

“For the political class, the time has come for us, irrespective of the political divide, to put all hands on deck and rise above all chauvinistic personal interests for the betterment of the state.

“This, of course, underscores the ‘unification mantra’ of my campaign.

“And the 2023 elections provide us the opportunity to redress our steps and fall back to the original plans of the founding fathers for equitable power rotation among the three Senatorial-Districts.
