Abia records three new COVID-19 outbreak

Abia State has added three new persons to the number of coronavirus patients in the state.

This was contained in a post made late Sunday by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on their twitter handle.

Though the ages and conditions of the patients weren’t provided in the post, the state Commissioner of Information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu in a chat confirmed that the state recorded new cases of COVID-19.

Okiyi-Kalu stated that the state would be making official statement on the new cases later today (Monday).

The state government recently announced that officials of the state Ministry of Health in collaboration with the NCDC officials would be embarking on contact tracing in Ikwuano and Ukwa East LGA of the state respectively, including Umuahia North LGA following the cases of the two septuagenarians who were earlier admitted at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) isolation center for suspected COVID-19.

Recall that the state government last week had raised the alarm over the burial of a COVID-19 suspect and had ordered that the entire family members be apprehended and quarantined.
