Red Alert: Abia declares suspected coronavirus patient wanted

Abia State Ministry of Health in partnership with the State Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19 on Friday declared one Vincent Prosper wanted.

A release signed by the Information Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu claimed that, Prosper reportedly sneaked into Abia State from a-yet-to-be mentioned neighboring state.

According to the release, the suspected COVID-19 patient was last seen around 153, Azikiwe Road, Aba.

The release urged anyone with useful information on Prosper’s whereabouts and those who have had contacts with him to call 0700 2242 362 or contact the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Osuji immediately.

In another release also signed by Okiyi-Kalu, the state government announced the continued extension of the ongoing lockdown in the state.

The Information Commissioner stated that the extension order was as a result the advice of medical experts and a painstaking review of the coronavirus situation by the COVID-19 Inter-Ministerial Committee.

Okiyi-Kalu announced that the state government has also decided to allow residents of the state to restock between Saturday and Sunday, enjoined Abians to use the two days window to also shop for face masks as the governor of the state has made it compulsory for residents of the state to wear face mask while leaving their homes.

He went further to disclose that all the borders of the state would remain close until the government deemed it necessary to lift the lockdown in the state.

  1. Something didn’t just link up on this report. Is this suspect not supposed to be quarantined in an isolation centre?
    That he was last seen at Azikiwe Road simply suggests that ‘a suspected Corona Virus victim’ was allowed to roam freely among the citizens.
    Anyways, this is Nigeria. But to be candid, everything isn’t supposed to be about politics.
