NDLEA Abia Command arrest two drug suspects

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abia State Command have arrested two persons at Umuokoro and Ndiolumbe communities in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state in connection with the sale of prohibited drug substances.

NDLEA Commander in the State, Mr. Bamidele Akingbade in a statement issued on Tuesday gave the names of the suspects as Chinasa Peter “M” 33years and Okwukwe Friday “M” 36years.

According to Akingabde, the arrest of the suspects was sequel to the outcry from the communities through the media over the activities of drug peddlers which has put lives and properties in the communities in danger.

This platform had been reported that the people of Umuokoro community in Isiala Ngwa South were worried that if nothing was done by the government and respective security agencies to curb the menace of consumption and sale of hard drugs in their communities which they have made their safe Haven, the crime wave in the community may get out of hand.

Akingbade disclosed that the agency after reading the reports from the media carried out surveillance on the said communities, where they confirmed the fears raised by the communities.

He disclosed that some dried weeds suspected to be cannabis were recovered from the suspects when the raiding of the communities was conducted.

The Abia NDLEA Boss who disclosed that the agency has hinted the Deputy Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Ude Okochukwu who is the chairman of the State Drug Control Committee said that the suspects would be arraigned at the Federal High Court, Umuahia Division.
