Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) and former Chief of Staff to Imo State Government House, Chief Uche Nwosu, has accepted the Supreme Court judgement that declared Senator Hope Uzodinma Imo Governor.

He also debunked rumours he had perfected plans to head back to the court to retrieve the mandate from Uzodinma following the decision of the Supreme Court that he was the actual governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Supreme Court had on January 12, 2020 quashed Nwosu’s AA candidature for also being listed as the governorship candidate of the APC by the INEC.

Speaking with journalists after his meeting with the leadership of the Rescue Mission Structures, Local Government Chairmen, Ward Chairmen, state Executives of All Progressive Congress(APC), LG elected Chairmen and some elected Councillors, Nwosu said that he and his supporters will not fight the judgement of Supreme Court but offer unflinching support to the Governor.

He said: “I want to state categorically that the party, including the structures in the state have accepted the Supreme Court judgement that affirmed Senator Hope Uzodinma as the governor of our dear state.

“We are not in any way fighting against that judgement that has given our party the victory due it; but we shall only do nothing less than give our unalloyed support to the new government of Senator Uzodinma.

“We are elated that the injustice we faced at the tribunal and Appeal Court had become a thing of the past and so we are using this avenue to commend the judiciary for still remaining the last resort of the hopeless”.

He stated that the essence of the meeting was to congratulate Uzodinma and hold discussions on how to join hands with the governor to move the state forward.

Commending the people of the state for their support to the APC, Nwosu urged them to exercise patience with the new government, saying the same spirit of APC that delivered the dividend of democracy in the past eight years would still attract more positive changes through the current leadership in the state.
