APC supporters protest delay of judgment documents

Members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency on Wednesday defied heavy downpour in Umuahia, the Abia State capital to protest what they described as the inability of the National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal to release their judgment in the case between Nnamdi Iro Oji of the APC and Honourable Uko Nkole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Tribunal had in its ruling validated Hon. Nkole as the duly elected Federal House of Representatives member for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in a petition brought before it by Oji.

Some of the placards read “This is 13 days of judgment, we need our judgment”. “Give us our judgment, Justice I.P.C. Igwe”. “Give us our judgment panel 2”

Chidiebere Kalu who spoke on behalf of other protesters insisted that they are running out of time, as there is a deadline already set for those who are ready to approach the Appellate court even as he described the inability of the tribunal to release the judgment to their candidate as suicidal and uncalled for.

Kalu wondered if members of the tribunal are hell-bent on scuttling their bid to further pursue their case.

Another protester, Mr. Ndem Chukwu noted that the National Assembly petitions for Abia North are being unduly withheld even as he alleged that attempts are being made to alter the judgment in the hotel rooms of the Judges after about two weeks from the date of delivering the judgment.

Chukwu insisted it was a deliberate act since according to him the judgment must be studied before they can head to the Appellate court and its continued withholding will surely affect the process of approaching the court which has a window of about only twenty-one days.

Others whose judgments have not been released as alleged by the protesters include Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as well as Martins Apugo, all of the APC and eyebrows are being raised as to why the judgments are yet to be released to them to further pursue their case at the Appellate court as permitted by law.
