Aba residents expressed shock as man reportedly dies during physical exercise

Residents of Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State have expressed shock over the death of yet-to-be identified man who reportedly died while on an early morning exercise.

Our reporter gathered that the incident happened along ever busy Aba-Ikot Ekpene Expressway, Ogbor Hill.

Some early callers to the scene who spoke to our reporter said that the deceased in his early 30’s suddenly collapsed and died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Others who said that the man might have been at the area as early as 5am before the early morning traffic begins to build-up stated that the identity of deceased could not be ascertained as the only property found on him was his house key.

Until the time our reporter left the scene, there was nobody on hand to identify the deceased and facilitate the removal of the body on the road as it has started causing gridlock on the road.

 “The man was exercising along the road before he suddenly collapsed and foams started coming out of his mouth.  Nobody knew what happened to him, but when he collapsed on the road, we knew there was problem. Some people checked him for any means of identification.  None was found.”

Information later has it that group of policemen from one of the police stations in Aba came with an ambulance to evacuate the body from the road.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abia State Command, Superintendent of Police, Geoffrey Ogbonna, could not be reached as the time of filing this report.

However, a senior Police officer at the Ogbor Hill division said the corpse has been deposited in a morgue, while efforts are being made to locate his family.
