Tears, tears and all tears for Osun

0

I weep for a nation where “might is right;” I cry for a generation at war with one another; I bleed for a precinct where the fittest survives against all odds and reduces others to debris; I shudder at a people who believe their battle is of the strongest, swiftest, and by no means, of the Lords.

Nigeria as a country is once again decimated in one of its 36 states, Osun;  Africa as a continent is for another obnoxious reason put on the spotlight as a “shithole” (credits to President Trump of America); and democracy as a generally accepted governmental norm under the planet has for the umpteenth time here been manhandled, decapitated and thrown to the Marines.

Tears, tears and all tears for Osun. Grief, grief and all grief for the giant as Sorrow and pain overwhelm the joy of a supposed triumph of the  will of democracy over government forces.

In Osun state, a few hours ago, democracy exited black race; in Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest economies, electoral franchise died, buried, exhumed and reburied again.

In Osun state, a few hours ago, we got the worst bargain of democracy ever; in that organised banditry, spearheaded by the umpire, We were once again reduced to rubbles in the committee of civilized countries of the world; in that singular shame of a country superintended over by INEC, where obvious and brazen impunity played host to our common decision, Nigeria clearly descended into a ditch with an indicator-light ushering us into Armageddon.

With Osun example, the cloud hovers over 2019 elections as the contests have been won and lost; with Osun’s macabre dance, the PVC power is balderdash, story for the gods.

While political science according to Wikipedia teaches us that “legitimacy is the right and acceptance of an authority, usually a governing law or a régime;” illegitimacy according to English Oxford Living dictionaries is “the state of not being in accordance with accepted standards or rules; lack of authorization by the law;” an example of what played out in Osun state hours ago.

The import of illegitimacy as Osun scenario exemplifies is general apathy and disregard for constituted authorities and future elections; which if interpreted will amount to anarchical and diarchical society.

In the end, the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is the biggest culprit. Secondly, President Muhamadu Buhari led FG is the dark horse behind Osun incident while the Adams Oshiomole led Party is the hand of Jacob, voice of Isau therein.

To this end, I weep, cry for my country.
