APC, police deny death of 10 party supporters in Abia

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Osisioma Ngwa Local Government, Abia State has debunked report in a national daily and some Online platforms that claimed that about 10 persons were feared 10 when unknown thugs allegedly attacked some APC members from the area during a meeting. This is even as police have said nobody died in the area as a result of any fracas in Osisioma Ngwa.

   

Addressing journalists at the Local Government party secretariat at Osisioma along Aba-Owerri Expressway, Aba, Chief Ahaoma Innocent Omeonu, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government APC chairman said it was not true that 10 persons died as alleged in the reports.

 

According to him, “The truth remains that some aspirants of the party visited us on the said day and after the meeting, the people went home peacefully and I wouldn’t know where the said fracas that was alleged to have claimed the lives of 10 people happened.

“I hail from the same place where they reported that the incident took place and to the best of my knowledge, there was no such incident and if there was,  I should have been the first to know”.

 

Also speaking Orji Chikezirim Momoh, APC deputy state youth leader, who said he moderated the event on the day of the purported incident, said nothing of such happened.

“The place is there for anybody to go and make inquires. I haven’t seen any place in this world where 10 persons will die and nobody, not even the relations of the dead persons will go to report to the police that their dear ones were killed. The truth remains that if anybody had died, it would have been reported to the police before now.

 

“Our opponents planted the story because they are afraid of senator (Mrs) Nkechi Nwaogu who is contesting the Abia Central seat on the platform of APC and who incidentally was on hand that day to address her people. They believed that by that story, they will bring her rising profile down, but they are wrong.

The police also denied the killing of anybody in the area on the day in question.

 

A senior police officer from the Abia State Police Command who wouldn’t want his name in print said when they read the report in Newspaper, they detailed their men in Aba to investigate the report and it was found out to be untrue.
