It was a sort of carnival at the Abia State party secretariat of the All Progressives Congress located at Adelabu Street by Azikiwe road Umuahia, the Abia State capital the CEO/MD Masters Energy and 2015 gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Uche Sampson begins his quest to the race of occupying the Abia state government house in 2019as he formally declared his intention to run for the Governorship seat.

Addressing APC faithful and his massive supporters at party’s Secretariat on Thursday, Ogah said he was not joining the race to play politics but to make a difference in politics and make Abia State better through the provision of various democratic dividends.

The APC chieftain, who decried the developmental backwardness of Abia over the years, stated that with the current of infrastructural development in the state, Abians needed vision-driven leaders to make the state a land of prosperity and progress

“I have come to serve, not to play politics. I have come to lead, not to rule. I’m in the race again for Abia government house to make a difference, not to make a point.

“Time like this calls for renewed hope and confidence in the robust sanctity and the legitimacy of our quest for the realization of our shared dreams of a brighter dawn of a beloved state.

“Today, Abia state is at a critical juncture of decision making on who will take over the mantle of leadership to liberate the state”.

He added that, “we look forward for a better days, there is a need for a compassionate and a vision-driven leader, that will stand up to inspire our people to make Abia the land of prosperity and progress that we all desire”.

He also stressed the need for all members of APC in the state to come together and shield their differences to enable them win.

“If we all can put ourselves together as one party, bury our differences, we will put Abia in a better history,” he added.

“Democracy, as a system of government, is meant for the purpose of securing, protecting, promoting good governance, accountability and the welfare of the citizens.

“Politicians are required to implement social reforms and policy measures that would contribute to the general welfare of the populace. Politicians play a central role in people’s lives; we represent the hopes, aspirations and the interests of every citizen in the state”.

He decried the inability of the PDP-led administration in the state to pay workers’ salaries despite the huge sums of money accrued to the state and promised if elected as governor to use his “wealth of experience in administration to ensure dividends of democracy gets to the doorsteps of all Abians.”

Ogah pledged to bring digital security network with technology, lamenting that state governments should stop running to Abuja for federal allocation account committee, FAAC but rather explore the inguinity of Igbo man given to him by God.

The president of Masters energy stressed that Abia state needs radical transformation to restore the state back.

Responding, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa insisted that the party will not impose anyone on the people of Abia, insisting on a level playing ground.

He advised all the aspirants to avoid inflammatory comments against one another, noting that every Abian has the right to run for the seat.

Nwankpa charged politicians to embrace politics as a sports where winners and losers accept the decision of the referee and described Uche Ogah as a disciplinarian and highly organized person.
