Oyo State Gov promises to rebuild demolished Radio House

Weeks after the Oyo State bulldozer demolished  N800 million music house cum FRESH F. M radio station belonging to gospel music guru, Evangelist Yinka Ayefele in what was generally seen as executive rascality, Gov.  Abiola Ajimobi has promised to rebuild the demolished structure.

The Governor made the promise on Sunday at the 90th birthday celebration of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

Public outcry, national and international condemnation have trailed the demolition, thus forcing the state Government which had earlier excused the unpopular action on violation of Town Planning masterpiece to reverse itself.

Notable civil rights organisations and individuals including Human Rights Writers Association  ( HURIWA), and the National Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists , NUJ,  Zone C,  Comrade Chris Isiguzo, had all criticised the Governor over the needless demolition.

Thus, on what seems like face – saving mechanism, the embattled Governor told his audience at the monarch’s birthday bash that he would rebuild the demolished multi -billion  music house.

Ajimobi pledged the state government’s commitment to assist Ayefele with the necessary logistics in rebuilding the demolished structure.

He said that he had held a peace talk with the gospel music legend when he visited him in his office.

“I want to say that the imbroglio between the state government and Yinka Ayefele over the demolition of his Music House has been resolved. And I pledge the government’s commitment to assist him.”

Meanwhile, the Governor’s pledge has sparked off another round of anguish against him with many commentators on the social media asking him to use his personal money in rebuilding the demolished house.

The angry critics argue that it would amount to double crime against the people of Oyo State for the ‘power -drunk’ Governor to waste public funds in demolishing the radio station which had provided job to about 150 persons only to embark on its reconstruction one week later also with public funds.

They maintain that the Governor should be made to personally feel the financial pains of his unnecessary overzealous , executive rascality, impunity and power intoxication.
