Ogah to contest Abia governorship position, sources disclose

 Information reaching infonet9ja.com has it that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abia State chapter, Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah, a 2015 governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may run for the governorship position in 2019 under his new party.

 

Sources in APC who pleaded anonymous told our reporter that Ogah had started consulting stakeholders in the party across the three senatorial zones of the state over his intended gubernatorial ambition.

 

According to the sources who disclosed that the persistent insistence of the leadership of the party to throw position of governorship open to three senatorial zones in the state couldn’t have been ruled out as one of the things that is spurring Ogah to declare interest in the governorship position.

Recall that the state chairman of the party, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa and other major stakeholders of the party in an event in Umuahia, the State capital and other forums reiterated the position of the party not to zone the party’s governorship slot to a particular zone, stressing that the party was more concerned with a candidate that would deliver the dividend of democracy to the citizens of the state, than the zone he/she comes from.

The sources who said that Ogah who seems to have won the admiration of the Abia electorate noted that the 2015 PDP governorship aspirant has the likes of former deputy governor of the state, Comrade Chris Akomas and other aspirants from Abia South and Central that are yet to make their intentions public to contend with.

They expressed hope that the goodwill of Ogah whom many have tipped as the candidate to give the incumbent a good run for his money would give him the edge ahead of other candidates.

They however wondered how Ogah and his junior brother, Amobi who recently declared his intention to run for Isiukwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency would be able to convince Abians to vote for brothers from the same family.
