Six male suspects linked to the shooting to death of a young man in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State, have been arrested and cooling off at the detention facility of the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID), Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police.

 

Our correspondent reports that in the past few weeks, there has been reported cases to deaths traced to some popular cult groups said to be revenging the death of their members who were killed by members of rival cult groups.

Most recent among the deaths recorded in Aba as a result of the activities of the cult groups was the killing of a young man in his late twenties by two men on a motorbike at the popular Azikiwe road by Asa road in Aba South local government area of the state.

 

This is coming few days after a similar incident took place at a popular clubhouse along the popular Brass Street in Aba North local government area of the state.

Our correspondent reports that another death associated with cult activities was recorded around the axis of Osusu in Aba North local government area of the state.

 

The killing, investigation has it is happening among some student cult members of various higher institutions in the state or some others recruited from the streets.

 

Our correspondent reports that following the killing of the young man at Azikiwe by Asa road, the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa paid an unscheduled visit to the commercial city to have a first hand information of the incidents.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Maureen Chinaka in a telephone interview confirmed the arrest of the male suspects.

Chinaka disclosed that investigation on the mater is ongoing, stating that the command will make their findings public as soon as investigation on the matter was concluded.
