Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, one of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 Presidential aspirants has dumped the party.

 

Rt. Hon. Ndukwe in a letter of resignation addressed to the PDP ward chairman, item ward C, Dike Dike, Rt. Hon Asiforo Okere, the state chairman of the party and the acting National chairman of the party, Amb. Umar Damagum said that his decision to dump the PDP was personal and reflections on what he described as his current commitments and aspirations.

 

Cosmos in the letter dated April 26 said “I hope this letter finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that I compose this correspondence to tender my resignation as a member and stakeholder in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Abia State, effective immediately.

 

“My decision to resign as a member within the party stems from personal reasons and reflections on my current commitments and aspirations.

 

“After careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that putting out of PDP is the best course of action for me at this time.

 

“I am immensely grateful for the opportunities that the PDP has afforded me during my tenure as a Councillor, Deputy Chairman Local Government, Chief of Staff to Executive Governor of Abia State, Deputy Speaker Abia 6th House of Assembly and Presidential Aspirant PDP 2023.

“Serving within the party has been a privilege, and I have valued the relationships I have built with fellow members, as well as the chance to contribute to the party’s objectives and ideals.

 

“I want to express my appreciation to you, the Ward Executive Committee and all members of the PDP Abia State for the support and camaraderie extended to me throughout my association with theparty.

 

“While I may be stepping away from my formal role, I remain committed to the principles ofdemocracy and the progress of our great state Abia.

 

“Please consider this letter as my formal resignation from all duties and responsibilities associated with my position as a member and stakcholder in the PDP Abia State.

 

“I wish the PDP Abia State continued success in all its endeavors, and I extend my best wishes for thefuture.”

 

The choice of Rt. Hon. Ndukwe who was a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly and member that represented Bende North State Constituency to dump the party few weeks after a co-lawmaker, Hon. Uzo Jerry Uzosike; lawmaker that represented Umuahia South State Constituency have put to doubt, the possibility of the PDP to come together to form a formidable opposition party in the state.

Our correspondent reports that there were indications that more PDP members will be joining the likes of Rt. Hon. Ndukwe and Hon. Uzosike.

 

Reacting to the gale of decamping by members from the party, the acting Publicity Secretary and the vice chairman, Hon. Abraham Amah said “In the intricate tapestry of political dynamics, the Abia State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stands tall as the proverbial Iroko tree – an emblem of strength, resilience, and enduring growth.

 

“Just as the Iroko sheds its dry leaves to make way for new, freshly green foliage, the recent departure of some prominent figures from the party signals a vital phase of transformation and rebirth.

 

“The departure of these esteemed individuals, akin to the shedding of dry leaves, is an essential process in the rejuvenation of our party.

 

“This symbolic act paves the way for the emergence of a new era within the Abia PDP – one characterized by vitality, dynamism, and a fresh perspective.
