The acting rector, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Engr. Mrs. Chidinma Ndukwe has hailed the governor of the state, Dr. Alex Otti on regular payment of the institution’s workers salary since his assumption of office as the governor of the state.
Engr. Mrs. Ndukwe stated this during the school’s end of the year’s thanksgiving service held at the polytechnic’s pavilion.
According to the acting rector, since the coming on board of the government of Otti, the salary of the workers have become regular that they now expect to receive their payment at the end of every month.
“We now live with a hope alive attitude.”
She disclosed that the action of the governor has served as a springboard for the workers to show more commitment to their duties.
The Ag. rector who also used the event to mark her six months in office, thanked the state Education Commissioner, Prof. Uche Eme for her support to the school.
Taking a retrospect of what the school has achieved within the period she has superintended over the affairs of the institution, the rector said “in fact, for these past six months, Abia State Polytechnic, has experienced the new birth.
“This is the third prayer session we are having within this period and they have been awesome with the presence of the Lord.
“Today , we will also be celebrating some of our staff and students that have won laurels for us.
“For the first time, our staff team won the Football competition organized by NBTE/NIPOSSA at the Polytechnic, Ibadan.
“Asuoha Winner won Bronze medal at the NIPOGA (OWO 2023)
“Ihuoma Isidore (Elect/Elect) took 1st position in a competition organised by COREN and Committee of Deans of Polytechnics for Polytechnics in South East.
“Two graduates of Abia State Polytechnic won Construction Artisans Awards (CAA) – a yearly competition for all the Construction Artisans all over Nigeria.”
Continuing, the acting rector said that in the last six months of her leadership was when one Udeogu Chinaza, a HND I student of BMC department emerged winner of a Quiz competition hosted at El Dorado Event center, in Aba by Mr. Emmanuel Okoh, popularly called known Okwuluora (a philanthropist).
“Ruth Purpose Chukwu took the first position while a staff, Rose Emecheta emerged as the best poster presenter at the National Debate Competition (H2BYD!] Debate Competition) organized by Nigerian Association of Food Science and Technology Students, held at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike
“We are also grateful to God that our graduates from School of Engineering who hitherto have not been able to go for service have bee mobilised for service.
“Some of them are in the camp presently. Civi engineering department that did not scale through in the las accreditation will be visited before the end of the year.
“We have already paid the accreditation fee to NBTE,” she added.
She went ahead to pledge the unalloyed support of the management and staff of the school, stating that there were not just commited to duties, but willing to assist the state government drive its vision for the institution.

Highlights of the event include special prayer for management, staff and students of the institution by Rev. Pastor Mosy Madugba and public presentation of some of the staff and students that won different honours for the polytechnic.
