Abia Poly Acting Rector Commends Gov. For Appointing Women In Sensitive Positions

The acting rector of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Engr. Chidinma Ndukwe has commended the governor of the state, Dr. Alex Otti for giving women the opportunity to serve in his government.

 

This is even as Ndukwe stated that Otti’s decision to allow women head sensitive positions in his government, clearly shows that the governor acknowledges the role of women in nation building.

 

In an exclusive chat with the Abia Poly’s acting rector, she expressed optimism that the women serving in different capacities and offices in the state would perform credibly within the period of their leadership.

“I will not say that we have gotten it hundred percent, but I will tell you that, there is a great improvement.

 

“We have women that have occupied sensitive positions.

 

“We have women that have become Vice-chancellors, here in Abia State Polytechnic, I am the first female acting rector. We have not had any woman before now, occupying such position in the school.

 

“I was also the first woman to occupy the position of Deputy Rector Academics. I believe that this government is giving opportunities to women.

“In the current administration in the state, many women are occupying some sensitive positions. We have women as commissioners; for Education and Health.

 

“The Accountant-General of the state, the Head of Service are all women also.

 

“You can see that this present government of Dr. Alex Otti is giving women the opportunity to occupy sensitive and strategic positions in the state and I want to believe that these women will not fail him in these appointments.

“I want to urge government at both the state and national levels to ensure the implementation of the 35percent affirmation that we have been clamouring for in every facets.

“There is no position in the world that you don’t find women. They always try to be just.
