Abia State government has debunked the news making the rounds that coach Finidi George has been relieved of his job as the head coach of Abia’s populous football club, Enyimba International Football club.
News making the rounds in the state has it that the new Enyimba management led by ex-Super Eagles star and Finidi George’s teammate, Kanu Nwankwo, has relieved other staffers include Finidi George after a memo circulating the social media space had it that the staff of the Enyimba team should reapply for their various positions.
But the state government through a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Kazie Uko Monday night urged the general public to disregard the news that Finidi George has been relieved of his position as the Enyimba gaffer.
The statement read “The Abia State Government wishes to call on the general public to disregard the fake story making the rounds that the technical bench of Nigeria’s premier league champions, Enyimba International Football Club, Aba, has been sacked.
“There is no iota of truth in that fable as no directive has been issued in that regard by either the state government or the club’s management.
