Trucks numbering more than three hundred have been trapped at a bad spot in Ikem along Obollo Afor/Iheamufu Federal Road.

According to one of the drivers whose name is Ahmed Hassam, said that the big trucks were trapped there due to the sinking and slippery nature of the soil.

He added that truck drivers heading to different parts of Southeast and South-south regions from the Northern Part of Nigeria and those leaving the two regions entered the mess they were in because 9th Mile Road is a no-go area.

Hasam who said he was driving from Kogi State to Abia State also said he had stayed five days on the road while some of the drivers had spent over a week at the place

Hasam also added that they were contributing #3000 to buy chippings in order to fill the sinking spot.

The native of Ikem who introduced himself as Christopher Ogbodo said, “This place is Amudamu Ikem in Isiuzo LGA, Enugu State and the road is an interstate road leading to Abakaliki, Cross River…”

He said that the road was being constructed from Obollo Afor but stopped at the spot where vehicles were being trapped.

The truck drivers who have been on the bad spot for days cried out to both Federal and Enugu State Governments to come to their aid and also build the roads for them in order to make their work easy.
