Abia Speaker Urges Investors To Take Advantage of Abia’s Business Friendly Environment

Rt. Hon. Orji made the call during the commissioning of Anyi Duke Resources, makers of Anyi Duke bread and pastries, at Mgbarakuma Ubakala in Umuahia South LGA of Abia State.

The Speaker who was accompanied to the event by Hon. Jerry Uzosike, Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency at the state House of Assembly, extolled the proprietor of the Anyi Duke Resources, owners of the modern bakery, Hon. Ifeanyi Duke Iroegbu for thinking it wise to invest in the State.

The Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, who commended Hon. Iroegbu for choosing to site his bread factory in Umuahia South, said such a patriotic gesture was worth commendable, stating that the multiplier effect of the business in the Abia community is that it was going to create employment for youths of the locality and other neighbouring communities.

Rt. Hon. Orji while urging other well-meaning Abians to emulate the step taken by Hon. Iroegbu by taking advantage of the favourable business climate in the state to invest at home, implored Abia youths to pursue self-reliance driven by the desire to start up small enterprises.

The Speaker who noted the positive impacts of the Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs on the economy of the state despite the economic downturn, assured that the Abia State House of Assembly under his leadership was committed to making laws that would continue to improve business operations and also attract investments into the state.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Jerry Uzosike in whose constituency the pastry making firm was situated, thanked the Speaker for his support to investors in the state, and called for more support for Abians who think home.

In his speech, the owner of the bakery and pastry firm thanked the Speaker for his support and presence at the event, saying his decision to site the Bakery at home was borne out of the desire to invest in the sate, create employment opportunities for the youths and also serve as an inspiration to them.

The Speaker had earlier donated a power generating set to the company to help its power needs.

Highlights of the event included a performance by pupils of Arise and Shine International School.

Those present at the event include the LG Chairman of Umuahia South LGA, Hon Humphrey Benson Chukwudi, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barr Chris Ezem, Engr Sam Chukwuma, Clergymen, Traditional Rulers, business owners, women, youth and several sociopolitical groups.
