INEC Shifts PVC Collection By One Week

A media group; Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) has charged Abians and the Residents of Abia to ensure that they use the window provided for the registration and collection of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain their PVCs ahead of the 2023 general elections.

OMPAN made the appeal in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Paddy Anyatonwu and Mr. Steve Unegbu Secretary which was issued to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital on Monday.

Anyatonwu in the statement noted that the dreams and aspirations of Abians would attained if they vote credible people into various elective positions, stressing that voting on election days can only be done by those with their PVCs.

The Association while lamenting voter apathy in previous elections in the state and the country at large, reminded Abians of the dangers of expecting change in the polity when they decided to sit on the fence while the process of electing political leaders at various levels of government was ongoing.

The statement reads in parts, “Everyone who is 18 and above should get their PVCs because it is very important in shaping our future and those of our children. The forthcoming elections give us the right to exercise our powers as citizens.”

The Association, advised Abians to participate in the election process, adding that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had improved the electoral process while rigging and other malpractices have been reduced.
