“It is not true (that I have been disqualified by the PDP screening committee). What happened is that I am yet to be cleared and I need to meet with the committee tomorrow (Tuesday). There are some internal issues that we are sorting out.
“You know that I am also a journalist and you know the inherent powers of the constitution, especially as it concerns section 6 of the 1999 Constitution.
“The powers there confide to the court that they can hear any matter, including any law made in Nigeria and even the laws made by the family.
“It is not an aberration for anyone to approach the court for the interpretation of a particular law.
“I think that is where we are. It is just based on What Gov. Samuel Ortom’s led standing committee said, apart from that, there is need for further interpretation, not that I took the PDP as a family to court as being reported.
“It is just for the interpretation of that section 7 3(c) of the PDP Constitution that talks about zoning. I just asked if we (PDP) are abandoning this section?
“There is a section in the PDP that talks about zoning of elective offices. We have done that of the party during the National Working Committee of the party, where each position was zoned to a particular place.
“And that section 7 3(c) for equity and fairness says that the party should zone their offices and that is just I want its interpretation.
“But Ortom said that the Presidency won’t be zoned, that it is going to be free for all and it is made free for all, then those zones that are more viable, that are more stronger than others will continue to swallow them. I only want to know whether that section is being abandoned and that is what we are sorting out.
“I am meeting the committee tomorrow (Tuesday). They have not given me any reason why they said that I am yet-to-be cleared, that they are looking into some certain things.
“It is tomorrow that they will tell me whether I have been disqualified or not. It is wrong for anyone to jump into conclusion that I have been disqualified when there are options still open for me to meet with the committee.
“They gave me a paper that says, not yet cleared, we need to do further explanation and those explanations were not made known to me until tomorrow, I will know what those explanations are. Until that is done, jumping into media conclusions is not just fair to me as a journalist as well.
