Abia Gov Sacks Former Senate President As ABSU Council Chair

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and visitor to Abia State University Uturu on Monday approved the dissolution of the former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara led Governing council of Abia State University (ABSU).

The disolution according to a statement by the Secretary to the Abia State Government (SSG), Barr. Chris Ezem, stated that the disolution of the Wabara led ABSU Governing Council was with immediate effect.

The statement could not state the reasons for the disolution of the governing council, but The nation however, gathered that it could have been as a result of a statement attributed to the former Nigeria’s senate President warning the governor of the state of the dangers the party (PDP) may face if the governor decides to hand over power to another Ngwa man in 2023.

The statement by the SSG further stated that Governor has approved the immediate reconstitution of an 8-man Governing council with Chief Mba Okoronkwo Ukariwo as the Chairman.

Other members of the board include Chief Obinna Njoku, Senator Emma Nwaka, Chief Chinwe Nwanganga, Chief Ndukwe U Ndukwe, Dr. Jonas Ibeaja, Barr. C Nwokeukwu (SAN) and Permanent Secretary, ministry of Education.
