Determined to restore the image, integrity and reputation of its institution, the Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, led by Owelle Oscar Udoji, on Tuesday dismissed another randy Lecturer within its fold who was found guilty of sexually harassing a female student.
The lecturer, one Dr. Adebayo Mosobalaje of the Department of English Language under the Faculty of Arts was relieved of his job on Tuesday in Ile-Ife at the last sitting of the Governing Council of the University.
Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, the Public Relations Officer of OAU, in a statement made available to journalists after the meeting of the University’s Council maintained that the action of the institution’s council was in line with the institution’s commitment and determination to rid the university of any form of sexual intimidation, harassment and or coercion.
Olarewaju in the statement further reaffirmed that the Joint Committee of the Council and Senate had earlier investigated the case against Dr. Mosobalaje, adding that their report was deliberated upon by the institution’s authorities.
“Due to this, the University council unambiguously declares its zero tolerance to sexual harassment, in any form or guise and applied the appropriate sanctions for such an offence as contained in the University regulation.
