A young male commercial tricycle driver, in his late twenties on Tuesday in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State bled to death after yet-to-be identified gunmen shot him.
The incident happened around the popular Ukaegbu junction on Aba-Ikot Ekpene road in Aba North Local Government Area.
Infonet9ja.com gathered that the gunmen after shooting their target and ensuring that he bled to death, departed the scene unchallenged by the eyewitnesses.
Sources around the area told our reporter that some shop owners and bystanders who were around the vicinity scampered for safety when they heard gunshot, not knowing where it was coming from and by the time they could make out the reason for the gunshot, the victim had died in the pool of his blood as the assassins jumped into a waiting tricycle and left the scene.
When contacted, a security source told our reporter that killing was a case of cult rivalry.
According to the source, the victim who was accused of being a member of the ‘Aye’ fraternity, with his gang members at the weekend in Aba reportedly killed a member of Aro fraternity.
The ‘Aro’ members were said to have tracked him from Park road to Ukaegbu road using another tricycle, where upon discharging the last passenger that boarded his tricycle at Ukaegbu junction by Ikot Ekpene road, they rushed out of their tricycle and shot him (victim) severally in the head, leaving him in the pool of his blood.
The incident was said to have caused heavy gridlock on the ever-busy federal road connecting users to and fro the heart of the commercial city.

It was learnt that police officers from the Azuka police station under division the incident happened who came to clear the road and also move both the corpse of the victim and his tricycle out of the scene.
