Two persons have reportedly being killed in a renewed cult clash between two rival groups in Aba South Local Government Area axis of Aba, the commercial center of Abia State.

The names of the dead persons were yet unknown, but sources told this medium that one of the rival cult is a popular cult group in Aba South LGA while the other one has its base in Ugwunagbor Local Government Area of the state.

Narrating the incident, a resident of Umunkama in Uwgunagbo LGA who pleaded anonymous disclosed that one of the deceased cult members was killed at his mother’s shop in a popular market along Ngwa road, while the other one was killed at a hotel on the Evina axis of Ngwa road.

“We were in front of our house when some boys in their numbers walked pass through our street. When people wanted to run, they asked them not, because they are not their target.

“Within a short while, we started hearing gunshots. People were running towards our house, but because we didn’t know what was happening.

“After a while, we saw the same group of boys coming passing through our area and this time, people were running helter-skelter. We joined them to run, at least, to be safe.

“It was after the whole drama that we learnt that it was a war between rival cult groups.

“One of the deceased was killed in his mother’s shop at Ihieorji market while the other person was killed around Evina and his body in front of the house of the leader of the rival cult who stormed our area in retaliation of their member that was killed at Ihieorji Market.

Sources within Ngwa road in Aba South and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas respectively told our correspondent that activities of various cult groups in the area have become worrisome.

They claimed that efforts to get the attention of various security agents over the activities of the cult groups have not been able to yield any positive result.
