Hoodlums hiding under the #ENDSARS protest on Wednesday in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State defied the 24hrs curfew announced Tuesday by the state government to embark on looting spree and setting ablaze government and private business owners’ facilities in the city.
Among the facilities attacked by the hoodlums include a bullion van reportedly belonging to Access bank, Asa road branch (opposite Christ the King Catholic Church, CKC), headquarters of Aba South Local Government Area, Umuojima Police Station, First Bank branch located along Ehi road by Mosque, Aba South Magistrate Court, Enyimba Shopping Mall located all in Aba South LGA.
Unconfirmed information has it that the protesters at the time of filing the report were heading towards the Ohuru Isimiri Police Station, while an attempt by another section of the protesters were repelled from attacking the Aba Central Police Station (CPS).
It was gathered that the hoodlums had concluded plans to attack the Abia Government House Lodge, Aba and residence of the Governor at his Umuobiakwa country home.
Sources within the security agencies who confirmed some of the attacks disclosed that security has been beefed around the Aba Governor’s Lodge and the Umuobiakwa residence of the Governor.
Meanwhile a statement from the Publicity Secretary of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Comrade Emma Powerful quoting the leader of the group, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has directed members of the group to fish out Governor Ikpeazu from wherever he may be found to face trial for the consequences opf his (Ikpeazu’s) action.

“Our youths in Ohafia are hereby instructed to capture him alive to face trial for the numerous murders he committed including the death of protesters yesterday in Aba. On no account must he be allowed to leave Ohafia alive. It’s an order,” the statement from Emma Powerful read.
