The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) Worldwide has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Lauretta Onochie a Commissioner in the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC).
OYC in a statement signed by its President and Secretary-Generals; Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike on Wednesday described those against Onochie’s appointment by the President as being treacherous and urged members of the Senate to ensure that they confirmed her as INEC Commissioner.
According to the Igbo Youth group, PDP and others calling for her delisting are crying for nothing.
OYC while chiding the National Chairman of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, Uche Secondus, Gov. Nyesom Wike and others said that instead of the alarm raised by them (Wike, Secondus among others), the appointment of Onochie is an answered prayers of Nigerians to avert election riggers from hijacking INEC.
“The appointment of Lauretta Onochie as National Commissioner of Independent Electoral commission (INEC) is Medicine after death, and a reward for PDP National Leadership for the betrayal against Igbo Presidency Project.
“OYC congratulate Lauretta Onochie, Special assistant on Social Media to President Muhammadu Buhari and Igbo daughter of Anioma Extraction of Delta State on her Appointment as National Commissioner of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Her appointment is well deserved and reward for hard work, bravery and vigour displayed in the line of Duty.
“Those crying Foul play on her appointment are just treacherous People who recently murdered 2023 Igbo Presidency Project through killing of PDP’S Zoning Formula enshrined in the Party’s Constitution and opted for an Open Contest for PDP Presidential Ticket.
