Former Ambassador of Nigeria to embassies in Saudi Arabia, London and Equatorial Guinea, and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Unveiling and Rebranding Nigeria Initiative, URNI, Hassan Ardo Tukur, has said Democracy Day provides opportunities for Nigerians to make choices over the nation’s challenges.

Amb. Tukur made this known in a statement to newsmen in Abuja, where he stated that Nigeria has come a long way. Democracy day provides an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and the challenges facing the country going ahead.

He said the commemoration of the Democracy Day Celebration, would foster the need to make choices about the socio-political challenges, as well as actualise all the missed opportunities to make Nigeria great.

“On every Democracy Day celebration, Nigeria will be presented with a future that posterity will be grateful for; a future that will be a part of us, as much as the kind solid enough to support the dreams of the next generation,” he said.

According to him, great men plant trees whose shade they know that they wouldn’t seat under unless the trees was planted 20 years ago, but the next best time is now.

Commenting on the mandate of the URNI Initiative, the former Ambassador who has served under various capacities as diplomat, reiterated that the initiative is set to mobilise a mass of change agents and leverage on the scaling effect of technology to push for a positive renaissance of nationhood.
