– Odion Ighalo could leave Man United at the end of this month when his six-month loan contract expires.
– But former Red Devil Owen Hargreaves says he would be surprise if that happens
– Hargreaves wants Man United to sign the Nigerian striker permanently
Manchester United Premier League and Champions League winner in 2007/2008 season Owen Hargreaves says he would be surprised if Odion Ighalo leaves the club at the end of this month.
According to Hargreaves, Ighalo who was a shock loan signing for Man United in January, has done enough to be handed a permanent deal.
Ighalo has had a successful loan spell at Man United after arriving from Shanghai Shenhua
The 30-year-old Nigeria striker scored four goals in his first eight appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils to prove his critics wrong.
But with the former Watford striker’s six-month loan deal set to run out at the end of this month, Shanghai Shenhua are reportedly willing to allow Ighalo join Man United for £20m.
It is left to be seen if Man United will meet their demands especially with Marcus Rashford back from injury. However, Hargreaves expects Man United to sign Ighalo permanently as he brings qualities neither Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial have.
Hargreaves told talkSPORT: “He’s a big United fan isn’t he and he’s done great, he’s done really good, better probably than he could have hoped and Man United could have hoped and he’s been a good addition to the team.
“I think all the boys are really good athletes and quick and want to run in behind and get the ball into feet but he looks comfortable with his back to the goal.
“I love Marcus and Martial, love their game, but they’re quite different in the sense that they want the ball into feet and they want to run in behind, whereas he’s comfortable being a target man with people behind him and then getting the ball and people can run off him.
I think he’s been a good fit for Man United and when you sign players you’ve got to get the right fit.
“It’s not always about getting the best name, it’s about getting the guy that you don’t have that you need.
“He was somebody that whoever signed him hats off to you, because he’s given them something different.
“Hopefully he stays but there’s the whole Sanchez situation when he comes back, Martial and Rashford, he’s fit as well, Bruno [Fernandes] and [Paul] Pogba – you’ve got to get them all into a team, with Daniel James as well.
“So he’s been good, really good. I’m sure they’ll try, if it’s sensible, keep him longer. I’d be surprised if he left.”
Manchester United are reportedly interested in Odion Ighalo extending his contract at Old Trafford beyond May, but the Red Devils have not decided on his future at Old Trafford.
This is because of the return of England international Marcus Rashford who has recovered from back injury that has kept him out of action since December last year.

And since Odion Ighalo replaced Marcus Rashford at Manchester United in January, the Nigerian has been impressive scoring four goals and providing one assist for Solskjaer’s side.
