Abia State Security Fund (ASSF) Bill passed its First Reading

The Abia State House of Assembly presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, during Plenary today Tuesday 3rd March 2020 entertained a petition over an unlawful closure of a Motor Park in Uturu, Isiukwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.

The House Committee on Public Petition was asked to look into the Petition and report back to the House within Two Weeks.

Also during Plenary, H.A.B 17: The Abia State Security Fund (ASSF) Bill, 2020, passed its First Reading.

This is “A Bill for a Law to Establish a Fund to assist Security Agencies in Abia State and for other matters connected therewith”, Sponsored by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu.

The Chairman of the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Health, Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi, presented the Report of the Joint Committee on Health and Education based on HAB 4 of 2019: The Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board Bill.

The Chairman said “That the Bill has no conflict with any existing Law and should be passed into Law accordingly”.

The House subsequently adopted the Report presented by the Chairman as a Working Document of the House.

The House deferred other Items on the Order Paper to a Future Legislative Day.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Paul Tharibo, moved that the House adjourn Plenary to resume back on Monday, 9th March, 2020 at 10am.

The Minority Leader, Hon Abraham Oba, seconded the Motion to which the House responded in the affirmative when the Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, put it up for voting.
