House Committee on Police, drugs and narcotics holds public hearing in Abia

House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, Drugs & Narcotics and Human Rights is scheduled to visit Abia State, today.

The visit according to a post on the facebook handle of the lawmaker representing Aba North and South State Federal Constituency, Hon. Ossy Prestige said that the visit of the committee was in line with decision of the House of Representatives to get to the root of the matter which led to the burning and destruction of the homes of residents of Ndiegoro in Aba South LGA by the Police.

Prestige in a post on his facebook handle read “Sequel to the motion moved on the floor of the House on 10th of October, 2019, by the member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Prestige Ossy, concerning the Crisis between the Police and the Residents of Ndiegoro Community which led to the death of a Police officer and the burning down of houses, destruction and looting of people’s means of livelihood. The House of Representatives mandated the Joint Committee on Police Affairs, Drugs & Narcotics and Human Rights to come to Aba for an investigative Town-Hall Meeting to ascertain the remote and immediate cause of the crisis.

“Date: Monday 11th November, 2019. Time: 12 Noon. Venue: Unubi Hall, No 5A, Ngwa Road, Aba.
