War against homosexuality: Anglican Church sacks four priests in Abia

The leadership of the Diocese of Isiala Ngwa, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion with headquarters at St. George’s Cathedral compound, Umuomainta, Mbawsi in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State has reportedly dismissed four priest under the Diocese for engaging the act of homosexuality practices.

This was contained in a notice of dismissal said to have emanated from the Bishop in-charge of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Temple Nwaogu, to all the church branches under it.

The notice which reportedly emanated from the office of the Bishop of Isiala Ngwa Diocese, gave the names of the dismissed priests as Rev. Canon Emmanuel Nwankwo, Rev. Kelechi Nwachukwu, Rev. Sunday Azubuike and Rev. Chris Achonye.

The dismissal of the trio, according to the notice which disclosed that the licenses of the accused priests have subsequently been withdrawn was reached following a proper investigation and recommendation submitted by the panel of enquiry who found them guilty of homosexual practices.

The release further warned any member of the public dealing with the said priest to be careful stressing that such could tarnish the image of the Church of God.

Our reporter could not reach the accused priest, but when however contacted through a mobile number (08054274338) on the memo which conveyed the message of dismissal, Bishop Nwaogu during a telephone conversation promised to get back to our reporter.

Efforts to get back to the Bishop as at the time of filing this reporter (48hrs after) failed as his line was said to be switched off.

Our reporter recalled that the Arochukwu/Ohafia Diocese of the Anglican Communion was said to have dismissed two priests serving under the Diocese in April for engaging in similar act.
