Army flag off Exercise Egwueke III in Abia State

About 48hours after the flagging off of Exercise Egwueke; Operation Python Dance 3 in Ebonyi State on Sunday 6 January 2019 by the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, HE Engr David Umahi and the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Abubakar Sadiq Maikobi, the stage was set for the commencement of the exercise across 82 Division Area of Responsibility.

It was gathered that the exercise in Abia State took off at Sector 2 of 14 Brigade Step Up HQ located at the Nsulu Games Village in Isialangwa North LGA of the state on Monday, January 7.

The exercise was said to have started with an operation orders delivered by the Commander Sector 2, Brigadier General Abubakar K. Ibrahim to his Commanding officers and other security agencies present.

Ibrahim thereafter, addressed troops and other security agents drawn from the Nigerian Police, Department of State services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Prison Services and the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency among others.

The Sector Commander informed the participants that Egwueke III is a security operation aimed at enhancing security within the southeast geo-political zone and said that similar exercise is being carried out all over the country simultaneously.

He called on the participants to be professional, to always remember their rules of engagement and to respect human rights in the course of the exercise.

The Commander said the exercise would continue till the end of 2019 general elections and urged that the participants to be neutral in Carrying out their tasks.

He urged the participants to cooperate very well with each other and go after the criminals or those with anti social behavior.

The sector 2 commander then held a meeting with the leaders of the security agents present to Kick-start the exercise. This is even as the general public were asked to go about their lawful duties and to report any suspicious movement of people around their homes.
