The Mortuary section of Enugwu-Ukwu general hospital in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State has been gutted by fire.
According to reports, all the corpses deposited at the morgue were burnt beyond recognition.
Information reaching us has it that people who deposited the body of their loved ones at the morgue have been thrown into confusion when the news broke.
It was said that the fire started at about three o’clock this afternoon and before they could get the fire service, the three -room-morgue had been raised down.
The mortician on duty whose name could not be ascertained at the time of filing the report was said to be unable to stop the fire as he was the only person on duty.
The cause of the fire couldn’t be ascertained, but eyewitnesses believed that the fire may have come from bush burning as the surrounding is over grown with dry grasses.
