Gov Wada’s loses House of Rep PDP ticket in Abia

The hope of wife of the former Kogi State Governor, Mrs. Ijeoma Wada to represent the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abia State chapter was dashed on Thursday as she lost the bid to secure the ticket.

Mrs. Wada was defeated by the incumbent lawmaker representing the area; Chief Sam Onuigbo with about 117 votes.

The Umuawa Alaocha, Umuahia local government area born First Lady scored 30 votes to clinch the 5th position in the primary election.

Other contestants were John Nwadinobi (90) votes, Emeka Inyima (49) votes, Gospel (37) votes, Megwara Kingsley (16), Uwaoma Adaku (16) votes, Emeka Njoku (20) votes, Emeka Ejiogu (14) votes, Uju Agomuo (8) votes and Longman Nwachukwu (3) votes.

Speaking while announcing the results, the Returning officer of the party, Tony Ohakam, said, “411 delegates participated in the House of Representatives primary election. No vote was voided “.

In a related development, retired Naval Commander, Macdonald Ubah, has picked the ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to contest the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency for 2019 National Assembly election.

Ubah scored 42 votes to beat Ambassador Charles Nzechi, Chief Collins Onyeama and three other contestants in the primary election.

115 delegates participated in the House of Representatives primary election and one vote was voided.

Also, Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu, the member representing Umuahia South constituency in Abia state House of Assembly, has picked APGA ticket to return for second term in office.

Declaring the results after collation at APGA office in Umuahia south local government area, the Returning officer of the party, Chinweotito Appolos, said 33 delegates participated in the House of Assembly primary election in Umuahia south local government area.

According to him, “Chijioke Nwachukwu scored 30 votes to beat Chidinma Iwu scored 3 votes”. No void votes”.

 

The Majority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Chinedum Orji Thursday evening celebrated with his constituents after being declared winner of the Peoples Democratic Party Ticket for Umuahia Central State Constituency earlier in the day.

Junior Orji like his father, Theodore Ahemefule Orji was elected unopposed.
