Former speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike has reportedly nominated as the 2019 running mate to the winner of the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary; Dr. Uche Ogah.
Unconfirmed information has it that the adoption of Azubuike as Ogah’s running mate took place at the Igbere Camp Neya country home of former governor of the state and chieftain of the APC in the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.
Sources claimed that the event took place in Kalu’s house Thursday’s morning between 8am in a closed door meeting.
It was gathered that Azubuike became the best choice to deputies Ogah because of his exposure in public administration with Ogah coming from the private sector of the economy.
Another factor was that Azubuike has got support base in Abia South which was why he came second in the just concluded guber primary of the party polling over 10, 000 votes.
Efforts to reach the media aide to Azubuike, Mr. Clinton Ubah failed, but a source close to the former speaker who would prefer not to be mentioned confirmed the report to our reporter, stating that Azubuike having came second in the just concluded gubernatorial primary of the party deserved the position.

The source was optimistic that Ogah and Azubuike’s popularity in Abia North and Abia South would defeat the incumbent governor of the state to clinch the power for APC in 2019.
