500 APC, PDP, APGA supporters dump party to join Fresh Democratic Party

Abia State chapter of Fresh Democratic Party (FDP) have received over 500 defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively.

The defectors were received by the chairman of FDP in the state, Comrade Paul Chinedu Emmanuel.

Speaking during a rally of the party in Umuahia comrade Emmanuel said the party was poised to take over power from the PDP come 2019 hinging his optimism on the fact that the PDP which has ruled the state for the past 20 years has only been making promises without fulfilling them.

According to him, “We are poised to take over from PDP in state come 2019 because over the years, they have been promising the people so many things without achieving any, but what we in FDP promise is what we believe in and will definitely fulfil because the party is founded on godly principles.

“Abia state is God’s Own State and FDP is godly party, they embrace the party, vote it into power in 2019 and experience the great change from Almighty. We believe in service and we are going to serve our people”, he said.

Addressing the crowd further the party chairman said, “We do not make empty promises. When we say we are going to change for good the lives of Abians, we mean every word of it because truthfulness is our watch word. We believe in unity and will bring to an end the old Bende/Ukwa Ngwa dichotomy if FDP comes to power in the state so that the people will co-habit without suspicion”.

Emmanuel opined that if Fresh Democratic Party comes to power in the state in 2019, it would provide the enabling environment that will attract foreign investors thereby boasting the state’s economy.

He said the essence of the rally was to sensitize the people of the state on the ideals of Fresh Party and what it stands for and for them to know that their salvation lies in the party.

“Fresh party as the name implies will be giving Abians fresh breathe in terms of infrastructural development and generally change in the way things are done in the state”, he assured.

Hon Victor Umunna, vice chairman FDP, Abia state chapter said the party was going to introduce a paradigm shift in the politics of Abia state, stressing that before now, Abians have suffered in the hands of few individuals and that was what FDP has come to address.

“We want to bring a change in Abia politics by giving room to the young ones to take up elective positions in the state.

“We are not afraid of the so called big political parties, members of Fresh Party believe in themselves and we believe this is time for us to take over in Abia State. In 2019, we are going to make a political imprint in the history of Abia politics, what we are asking is for INEC to be an impartial umpire”.

Highlight of the rally was the defection of over 500 people from other political parties to FDP.
