Gunmen abduct Abia APC chieftain in Aba

Yet-to-be identified gunmen have reportedly abducted a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State.

 

While information about the kidnap of the chieftain whose name until the time of this report was not yet known was still sketchy at the time of this report, it was learnt that the gunmen numbering about four was said to have taken the APC chieftain to an unknown location after they blocked him with their SUV.

Information from security sources confirmed the abduction, but could not disclose the identity of the victim whom they said is popular in the state.

 

Sources who would not want their names in print stated the chieftain was kidnapped few days after having meeting with the President; Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa within the week.

Another source from a sister security agency while confirming the kidnap of the APC chieftain disclosed that information reaching them has it that the said chieftain of the APC was released and had since been reunited with his family after parting with some undisclosed amount of cash.

 

On why the kidnapping was politically motivated, the security source said that they were yet to meet the said APC chieftain, but however ruled out the possibility of such from happening going by the season that the country is in at the moment.

Attempts to reach officials of the party in the state and spokesman of Police in the state, Geoffrey Ogbonna, Superintendent of Police at the time of this report failed to yield any fruit.
