Good Samaritans recuse 12 year-old teenager dumped in Abia drainage

A 12 year-old girl whose identity is yet-to-be verified have reportedly been found dumped in a popular drainage at East road that passes through Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Etche Road Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.

Investigation by infonet9ja.com revealed that the teenager whose health state is unstable may have been dumped in the drainage to be washed away by an anticipated rainfall by her loved ones who may have been frustrated coping with her medical condition.

She has since been taken to a nearby medical facility on the same East Street for prompt medical attention by the catholic community.

A member of the church said on arrival for 6am mass on Sunday, the security men attached to the church drew his attention to the girl who had spent the night (Saturday) there in the drainage.

“I quickly called the attention of the Parish priest, we picked her up, bathed her, clothed her, brought food to her but unfortunately she couldn’t eat. We made frantic efforts to make her give us a little detail about herself but all to no avail before we finally invited the police into the matter” the Catholic faithful explained.

The source added “In company of a female police officer, we took her to Saint Anthony’s Hospital Aba where I personally made an initial deposit of N12,000 and appealed to the hospital’s management to do all they could to stabilize her situation because she has bruises all over her body. Again, we brought variety of food to her if she could make a choice, she still didn’t eat just for us to get a report from the hospital management that she started displaying acts of violence, started kicking everywhere and destroyed the drip fixed on her”.

Meanwhile, the status of her mental health is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

The church, it was gathered is contemplating taking their act of good Samaritan and good Christian life a step further by taking the teenage girl to a psychiatric home for proper medical attention but however were restrained by lean resources.

The church is also appealing to anyone with useful information on how the parents or guardians of the teenage girl could be reached to please contact them. She is still recuperating in the medical facility as at the time of this report.
