VC  Inspects students Hostels, Calls For Immediate Intervention, Completion Of Abandoned Projects

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on Tuesday, inspected students’ hostels to get first-hand information from the students.

 

Shortly after taking over as the Substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Anyaehie visited the students’ hostels to assess the state of affairs.

The hostels visited were Prof. Dora Akunyili Hostel (Female) and Basilio Aoli hostel (Male).

 

Speaking on behalf of the students, Comrade Samuel Chinazam, and some spokespersons pointed out their needs, which included power supply and internet subscription.

The Vice-Chancellor granted approval of free WiFi subscription with immediate effect and assured them of prompt action regarding power supply.

 

The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to be committed to their studies, as the university will make the environment safe for learning.

Professor Anyaehie, a student-friendly leader, noted that his administration intends to engage with students (Class Reps) from time to time to know their plights.

He assured the students that a channel of communication will be established where they can easily reach out for complaints and get prompt responses and assured them of their well-being.

 

“You will not return from Christmas holidays to the same conditions,” he said.

Professor Anyaehie stated, during a press briefing, that he will commission projects within his first month in office.

He inspected some uncompleted projects within the university, including the abandoned Vice-Chancellor’s lodge and Alumni building, and called on stakeholders of prompt action for their completion.
