A human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu has called out the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force in Anambra State, to explain to Nigerians how the arrested suspected killers of the lawmaker representing Onitsha 1 State Constituency, Hon. Justice Azuka, escaped from their custody.

The calling out by Gwamnishu is coming hours after the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ikenga Tochukwu had appealed to Anambrarians and Nigerians of the commitment of the command to re-arrest the fleeing suspects.

Gwamnishu who identified one of the said escaped suspects as Ikemefuna Ossai, a 20-year-old native of Delta State.

The human rights activist who queried why the Anambra State Police failed to publish the pictures of the suspects as they used to do for other criminal suspects in their custody, said he was finding it hard to believe the story put out in the public by the Anambra State Police Command.

Gwamnishu wrote “Ikemefuna Ossai, a 20-year-old native of Delta State, was among the kidnappers who escaped from the RRS Awkuzu Anambra State Police Command custody.

“The Awkuzu RRS inability to prevent the escape, despite being equipped with sophisticated arms, raises concerns.

“Might this incident follow a similar trajectory as Andrew Ochekwo’s case?”
