Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has assured the management of Enyimba 94.3 FM, Aba, of the support of the government to help them quickly get back to business following the fire incident that raised down their station.
Governor Otti gave the assurance on Sunday, November 3, when he visited the Radio Station located at No 7 Oron Street, Off Aba Owerri Road, Aba, to assess the level of damage after a church service at the Living Faith Church Abayi, Aba.
Speaking to newsmen after being conducted round the scene of the inferno by the staff of the Radio Station, the Governor said, “You can see that the entire station and other things around it were completely burnt down. I understand that the fire started from a solar panel.
“That also means that as we deploy solar, we also need to be careful and ensure that the connections are such that this kind of incident won’t happen again.
“I sympathize with the management of the station. I’m happy that they have insurance coverage and we’ll see how we can offer support for them to get back to their feet as quickly as possible,” the Governor assured.
He used the opportunity to advise everyone to be careful as we are in the ember months; getting close to Christmas and the dry season, noting that fire spreads easily, hence, every home, apartment, office, etc should have fire extinguishers.
Earlier at the Living Faith Church (aka Winners Chapel), Governor Otti said that the focus of his administration is to develop the State and will not allow tiny opposition elements who are in the minority and bent on criticizing everything he does to distract him.
He stated that his administration is yet to borrow money since he assumed office and that he has been able to pay back about 50 billion from the over 191 Billion Naira debt profile that he inherited from his predecessor.
He attributed the success of his administration to God.
“Today we want to thank God for everything he is doing in the State. We are not able to do anything without him.
“Some people are wondering how we are doing it. I’m sure you know up till now, we have not borrowed one Kobo. In fact, the 191.2 billion loans that we inherited is down by almost 50 Billion repayment” the Governor stated.
He encouraged the worshipers to stay the cause and remain focused once they are sure and convinced that God has given them an assignment to do because even when there is delay, at the right time it must happen.
He said that he was fully convinced that God had called him to fix the State, hence, leaving his comfort zone as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of a bank to undertake the assignment.
He explained that things may be delayed as he was robbed of his victories in his previous attempts but at the right time, God made it happen.
He thanked the church for their continued support and prayers.
The resident pastor, Pastor Paul Abioye led the church to a fervent prayer session for the Governor, his family, entourage, and the State.
