The acting rector, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Engr. Dr. Chidinma Ndukwe has thanked the governor of the state, Dr. Alex Otti for regularly releasing the institution’s monthly subvention since his assumption of office as the governor of the state.


The acting rector who was speaking at the institution’s monthly prayer meeting for the month of January, held at the school’s pavilion on Wednesday January 31, also charged the staff to show more commitment to duties.

She used the opportunity to inform the staff of the decision of the management to hold compulsory general staff seminar for all categories of staff of the polytechnic coming up this month (February).

The acting rector who also informed the staff and students of the successful accreditation of the Engineering Department, expressed the hope that other departments would scale through their own accreditation coming up subsequently.

According to the rector, the management in its commitment to ensure that the retired staff were not out in the new wind of change in the polytechnic and state, disclosed that they recently paid their retired staff their December pensions.

Earlier in a sermon, Pastor Humphrey Okoroafor, speaking on the topic, Ushering In A New Dawn took his texts from Isaiah 43:18-19, 2nd Kings 7, Mathew 15:8, 9:16-17 and Luke 13:5b, urged staff to be change agents in their various offices to fit into the wind of change in the state and the polytechnic in particular.
He cautioned the staff not to be a clog in the wheel of progress in the polytechnic.

Pastor Okoroafor who listed steps that the staff should take if they should fit into the new dawn in the polytechnic, said that they must have genuine and sincere repentance, adding that they should use their positions to be agents of positive change.

He also reminded them the need to do righteousness, stressing that they should not be doing things the old way and expect positive results.

He also asked them to be prayerful, adding that the importance of prayers in their lives would not be overemphasized.
